After the last light, the cold begins

The island has practised ritual for decades — it calls it sunset. What its finest villas are only now learning is how to hold that intensity in a private room of heat, ice and silence. We design that room, by commission.

Ibiza’s white villas have absorbed every upgrade the last twenty years proposed: the infinity edge, the outdoor kitchen, the studio gym. Between Es Cubells and Cala Jondal, none of these distinguishes a house any longer. What does is rarer — a private spa conceived as architecture, the one room a guest has not already seen somewhere else on the island.

The island’s wellness culture arrived long before the hardware did. Yoga decks, retreats, breathwork on the cliffs — Ibiza practises all of it. A private sauna and ice bath simply bring the practice home: heat taken to twenty minutes of depth, then water at 4 °C as the sun drops behind the sea. An open-air contrast ritual, on your own terrace, at the island’s own hour.

There is also the other Ibiza — the season that drains as much as it delights. Late nights compound; sleep frays; the body ages on a different calendar from its owner. A room of heat and cold is the correction the island never built for itself: twenty disciplined minutes that return what the summer takes.

"Nordic Stillness: silence is not absence. It is presence that restores."

The villa that rents differently

For owners of luxury rental villas, the calculation is direct. In a market where every property has the pool and the view, a private spa is what sets a listing apart — the amenity that justifies the rate, photographs like nothing else in the portfolio and makes the shoulder season worth opening the house for. We design for that duty cycle: engineering for daily use, finishes that survive it, and a room that still feels private.

White architecture, warm rooms

Ibiza’s architecture is a discipline of light and absence, and a spa must respect it. Thermo-treated wood against lime-white walls, sauna volumes that read as part of the house in San José, Vista Alegre or Santa Gertrudis, ice baths that sit in the landscape rather than on it. We work directly with private clients and with the architecture studios shaping the island’s houses.

VALKEA coordinates from Madrid and builds across Spain, the Balearics included. Shipping, installation and commissioning on Ibiza are planned as one calendar, and we accept a limited number of projects per year — enough to treat an island commission as what it is: singular.

Conception

Three non-negotiable principles

01

Outdoors, all year

Sauna and ice bath composed for terrace and garden: the open-air contrast ritual at sunset, engineered for salt air, heat and the island’s long season.

02

Engineered for the season

For rental villas, we specify for daily use: robust controls, simple guest protocols and finishes that keep their composure from the first week of May to the last of October.

03

Quiet on a loud island

Discreet installation, no machine-room aesthetics, one interlocutor coordinating from Madrid. The island’s intensity ends at the door of the spa.

The practice

Four disciplines for the white villa

Finnish sauna

Bespoke Finnish saunas

Volumes that respect the island’s white architecture, glazing towards the sea where the site allows, and a heat curve set to its owner.

Ice bath

Architectural ice baths

Water at 4 °C on the terrace as the light goes down. The island’s contrast ritual, engineered silently for daily use.

Hammam

Private hammams

Steam, stone and shadow — a cool counterpoint to the Ibizan summer, composed with the discretion the island’s best houses demand.

Red light

Red light therapy suites

Photobiomodulation for recovery, skin and sleep — the quiet end of the island’s wellness culture, integrated into the architecture of the spa.

Frequently asked questions

What is worth knowing

Which areas of Ibiza do you serve?
The whole island: Es Cubells, Cala Jondal, Vista Alegre, San José, Santa Gertrudis, Santa Eulalia and the interior. VALKEA coordinates every project from Madrid and builds across Spain, including the Balearics; on an island this size, no address is remote.
How do timelines and travel to Ibiza work?
Most projects run 10 to 16 weeks from signature. Engineering and manufacture happen on the mainland; shipping, installation and commissioning on the island are planned as a single sequence, with technical visits grouped into scheduled trips at the decisive stages.
Do you work with architecture studios on the island?
By preference. We integrate into the studio’s process with license-ready documentation, MEP coordination and respect for the project language — essential in Ibiza’s white architecture, where a spa must join the house rather than interrupt it.
What types of property do you work on in Ibiza?
Private villas from Es Cubells to Santa Gertrudis, estates in the interior and luxury rental properties. For rental villas we engineer for intensive seasonal use — robust controls, simple guest protocols, finishes specified for daily service — so the spa keeps its promise across the whole season.
How does the technical visit work?
After an initial conversation and the dossier, we schedule a visit to the property, often aligned with your studio’s or property manager’s own site meetings. We assess structure, ventilation, power, water and installation access, and return with a considered proposal. For new builds, work begins over plans.
